LTL News:

  • Diesel fuel spiked to $3.951, the highest it has been since May of 2014; however, fuel is still looking to stabilize and retreat towards the tail end of 2022.
  • Winter storms swept across the country increasing transit delays in lanes including Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Des Moines, Fargo, Los Angeles, Louisville, Minneapolis, Memphis, New England, and St. Louis, markets. Embargoes were added in several markets as carriers work to recover from backed up volumes from the storm.
  • Freeze Protection services remain active across the applicable and serviceable markets. All freezable freight should have protection added, which may result in additional charges and transit delays from carriers strategic rerouting of equipment to protect your freight from freezing temperatures.
  • TL News:

  • The protest that was blocking traffic at the busiest commercial crossing between the U.S. and Canada, the Ambassador Bridge, entered its third day on Wednesday. Trucks waited for hours to get across an alternate border, while others detoured hundreds of miles. The largest protest has been in Ottawa, where hundreds of trucks have remained for more than a week as part of the Freedom Convoy. Another protest in Coutts, Alberta, has also been disrupting border traffic for over a week.
  • Indianapolis’ rates increased last week after the city was hit by a strong winter storm. The rate began to stabilize slightly over the weekend. Expect rates to stop increasing by late week as the market recovers from the winter storm. This lane was tightening prior to the winter weather, but there are early signs of stabilization.
  • Truckload capacity stabilized slightly last week as national rejection rates dipped briefly below 19% for the first time since mid-December. This was followed by a slight uptick as another weather system hit the Midwest with snow and ice.
    • Last week we attended the annual Globaltranz conference where they announced upcoming changes that will help us move freight more effectively. We will make sure you are aware of any changes as they happen.

Nascar fans can expect to see the Globaltranz logo in the 2022 NASCAR Camping World truck series as they have just announced a partnership with #40 Niece motorsports, Dean Thompson!
